Job Summary
A Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, staff, and overall management of the center. They ensure a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, while maintaining compliance with state regulations and industry standards.
Duties
- Staff Management: Hiring, training, and supervising daycare staff, ensuring proper certifications and qualifications are maintained, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Curriculum and Program Development: Designing and implementing age-appropriate educational programs and activities that promote child development.
- Operations Management: Overseeing the day-to-day operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and managing resources, to ensure the facility runs efficiently and effectively.
- Parent and Community Relations: Building strong relationships with parents through regular communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring high satisfaction levels. Engaging with the local community to promote the daycare.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring the facility adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and child welfare laws.
- Financial Oversight: Managing the daycare’s budget, monitoring expenses, and ensuring financial stability through tuition management and fundraising efforts.
- Marketing and Enrollment: Promoting the daycare to prospective families, handling inquiries, and leading enrollment efforts to meet facility goals.
Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education: This includes working directly with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings.
- Leadership experience: Experience in a supervisory or managerial role is crucial. A background in overseeing teams, including hiring, training, and performance management, is highly valued.
- Experience with program development: Having experience in creating and implementing educational programs or curriculum is important. This demonstrates the ability to design age-appropriate learning activities for children.
- Financial and Operations Management: Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and managing the operational aspects of a daycare facility, such as enrollment, staffing, and resource allocation, is key to ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing childcare and education, including health and safety standards, licensing, and child welfare laws.
- Parent Communication: Proven ability to build strong relationships with parents, handle concerns or complaints effectively, and ensure that parents are well-informed about their children’s progress.
- Crisis Management: Experience in handling emergencies, conflict resolution, and addressing challenging situations with both children and staff.
