What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraeducator - Early Childhood position at Orono Public Schools?
- Provide supervision to students in Early Childhood Special Education and Elementary Levels
- Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a supervising teacher.
- Performs support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students in special education or general education classrooms. Works Individually or in small groups.
- Collaborate with other teaching staff and paraprofessionals for the benefit of all students.
- Help students develop life skills.
- This is a six and a half (6.5) hour per day position for 170 days/year.
- Paraprofessionals must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which entails lifting, bending, and twisting in various settings.
- Be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to handle situations with a calm demeanor.
- A high level of compassion for students with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Flexibility and a cooperative nature are required.
