Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Indexer/Copyeditor Contractor to join our Content Operations team. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of product metadata across digital platforms. This includes proofreading and fact-checking descriptions, verifying metadata fields, and maintaining editorial standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about digital content, possess excellent editorial skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Metadata Indexing & Copyediting
- Proofread and fact-check product descriptions and key metadata elements such as pricing, release dates, rights, availability, provider details, ASIN codes, and categorization.
- Ensure product metadata aligns with internal editorial style and quality standards before publication to digital marketplaces.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) to maintain metadata consistency across platforms.
- Meet daily copyediting quotas and manage prioritized metadata update requests.
Editorial Content Development
- Edit, rewrite, or occasionally create compelling product descriptions.
- Research and incorporate professional product reviews or blurbs into listings as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve metadata or editorial issues.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor s degree (preferably in Humanities or a related field).
- Minimum 1 year of professional proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking experience, ideally within publishing or digital media.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a web-based publishing or content management environment.
- Strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Familiarity with metadata and taxonomy in digital content.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working in database-driven environments.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in online research tools (e.g., Google, Goodreads) and familiar with social media.
- Basic understanding of SEO and digital content optimization.
