OrthAlign, Inc., a Smart Technologies, growing medical device company, has an immediate opening for a Senior Electronics Technician. This role supports the testing, validation and development of computer-assisted orthopedic surgical systems and components interacting directly with Engineering and closely with the Quality and Operations teams and vendors to deliver products that fulfill customer needs.
You will:
- Contribute to the design, assembly, testing, and debugging of electronic circuits and systems (Electronic Circuit & System Support)
- Assist in the design and development of testing fixtures and related equipment to facilitate testing (Fixture & Equipment Design)
- Build, configure, and operate test and assembly equipment, ensuring accurate testing and validation (Test Equipment Utilization)
- Investigate and analyze issues, identify root causes, and prepare detailed test reports with findings and recommendations (Root Cause Analysis)
- Provide troubleshooting support and conduct analysis for returned products, offering insights to improve design or resolve field issues (Field Support)
- Conduct testing to ensure products meet regulatory standards, engineering specifications, company policies, and customer requirements (Product Verification, Validation & Qualification)
- Develop and prepare test products or prototypes for evaluation and testing (Test Article Preparation)
- Assist in the creation of new test methods and gather data to support product validation and compliance (Test Method Development)
- Record and document the manufacturing and inspection processes for test products, ensuring adherence to the company’s quality management system (Documentation & Quality Compliance)
You need:
- 4 years electronics experience in medical device or similar industry (i.e., aerospace, automotive or other highly technical, regulated and rapid-paced environment)
- Strong proficiency using MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Results-oriented with appropriate urgency
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member as well as independently
- Excellent attention to detail, producing high quality output
- Flexibility and strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Applies sound judgment when making decisions and communicating with internal and external customers
- Model making, fixture building, assembly techniques, fabrication skills, with electro-mechanical devices
- Ability to read and follow schematics and layouts
- Inspection/IQC skills, statistics knowledge and analysis a plus
- Experience with medical devices or regulated industry required
- Experience developing production processes, fixtures and creating assembly documentation
- Soldering and electronics prototyping experience required
- RF and BLE experience a plus
- Ability to debug electronic assemblies a plus
- Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus
