The Medical Transcriptionist & Medical Records Clerk requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Transcription and Medical Records experience. Familiarity with orthopedic and medical terminology is important in this role. Responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating patient medical records within a healthcare facility, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and efficient retrieval of information by filing documents securely, and distributing patient charts to appropriate staff as needed, requiring strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and adherence to HIPAA regulation. A successful candidate also will possess excellent customer service skills, Microsoft Office competency, be a reliable team player, and have the ability to be flexible in a changing environment. This position is a 20-hour per week part-time role, based in our Glastonbury, CT location.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Accurate and timely transcription of all patient notes
- Familiarity of orthopedic and medical terminology required
- Date entry and record keeping
- File management, auditing, and quality control
- Records retrieval
- Chart distribution
- Compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Other related duties as assigned
