Orthopedic Associates (OA) is recruiting a Workers' Compensation Specialist to join our company. OA is a privately-owned, regional leader in comprehensive orthopedic care. Since 1985, patients have placed their trust in our specialized care of the hand and upper extremities, spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot and ankle, trauma, total joint and sports medicine. With over 30 providers, Orthopedic Associates provides patient care at multiple locations throughout the Miami Valley region. Essential Duties:
- Effectively perform timely completion of any and all records pertaining a patients workers' compensation case
- Knowledgeable on company policies for patients and internal staff
- Stays current on billing, coding and workers' compensation policies
- Ability to adapt to new internal and workers' compensation policies
- Working knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Act and other applicable state/federal statutes and regulations
- Timely submission of C-9’s, C84’s, MEDCO’s and any other required form to BWC approval of physician services and patient reimbursement
- Follows up with workers’ compensation carriers on status all forms and requests submitted
- Maintain accurate recording of all actions taken pertaining to patient accounts
- Consistently documents all conversations with workers' compensation , caseworkers and patients
- Submit medical records to MCO or Self-Insured employer for each BWC patient seen daily
- Advise staff involved in the patients care, results of BWC status of patients
- Maintain professionalism with all providers, patients, staff and external contacts
- Good judgment in interpreting medical facts presented by a physician and applying these facts in determining the need for additional requests of services or additions of conditions to claims
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years Health Care industry experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
Work Authorization
- Must be able to provide required documentation stating that the employee is legal to work in the United States.
