Executive Director for Business and Operations
Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Executive Director plans, organizes and directs the financial business for the school district, while promoting the overall effectiveness of the school system in conjunction with promoting the success of all students through efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the development and implementation of the district's business and financial services, including the budget and risk management program.
- Performs such duties and supervises employees as necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
- Oversight of areas of human resources, facilities management, nutrition services, transportation, safety and security, and technology.
- Serves on the Superintendent's Cabinet and Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring the effective development, communication and enforcement of district policies and procedures in collaboration with internal and/or external stakeholders.
- Facilitating open discussions to keep stakeholders informed regarding budget-related items.
- Leading bargaining efforts in collaboration with Human Resources administration.
- Facilitating collaboration between staff, leadership, and the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Department.
- Working closely with legal counsel to ensure all stakeholders are informed and supported.
- Overseeing facilities planning and coordination in collaboration with the Director of Facilities.
- Facilitating collaborative discussions with key stakeholders on bond and levy measures.
- Developing and leading capital facilities plans in conjunction with stakeholders.
- Overseeing construction projects by collaborating with contractors, staff, and stakeholders.
- Serving as a fair and impartial hearing officer.
- Collaborating with school leadership, staff, and external partners to address potential threats.
- Serving as an active participant in various teams, including Cabinet and Leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, principles and application of practices related to district operations.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to navigate common challenges to effectively meet customer service needs.
- Public sector leadership, supervision, and administration experience.
- Computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and emerging technology experience.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with people.
- Ability to comply with applicable district, local, State, federal laws, and policies and practices.
- Interpersonal and supervisory skills that foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Consistent, prompt, and punctual attendance.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, and five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience, or a master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration and three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience.
Reports To
This position reports to and is evaluated by the district's Superintendent.
