Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
The Medical Assistant's primary tasks will involve assisting the provider in preparing and executing patient exams and procedures, assisting in documenting and updating patient records in Practice Management (PM) and Electronic Health Records System (EHRS), collaborating with appropriate parties to implement the patient's treatment plan, and other clinical and administrative duties as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- At least two years of experience in an orthopedic setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with HIPPA regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
- Proficient in Microsoft Offices (Word, Outlook, Teams etc.)
- Casting and Splinting Experience (Required)
- Clinical Orthopedics: 2 years (Required)
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) or equivalent
- Familiarity with medical billing, insurance, and authorizations
- Experience with Casting and Splinting
- OrthoTech certification or Orthopedic experience a plus
Responsibilities:
Clinical:
- Direct Patient Flow
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare patients for exams.
- Assist the physician during exams and medical procedures.
- Teach patients about medications, special diets, exercise plans and other medical lifestyle changes as directed by the provider.
- Clean wounds and change bandages.
- Apply and remove casts, splints and braces.
- Occasionally perform other medical duties under the supervision of the doctor.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed and medical records are kept secure and confidential.
Administrative:
- Assist the Patient Care Representative in scheduling decisions.
- Answer patient questions via phone, email and at the time of visit in a compassionate, timely and professional manner
- Correspond with insurance to obtain the proper documentation/authorization for procedures and equipment.
- Gather and document clinical information from other current or historical records under the direction of the provider.
- Prepare electronic charts of upcoming new and established patients by entering all medical information relevant to the office visit, including patient history, symptoms and complaints.
- Maintain records using accurate spelling, correct grammar and completeness before the provider reviews and signs the note.
- Perform other duties that improve the efficiency of the provider such as assisting with medication reconciliation, documenting procedures, and providing communication assistance (message to other providers, scanning, printing or copying medical records).
- Managing exam room inventory
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Other administrative duties as needed.
