Description
This position will function primarily as the Patient Benefits Coordinator for the PRC Department as part of the Osage Nation Health System. The position will conduct eligibility screenings, assessment of patient financial requirements, and counseling patients on insurance benefits. The benefits Coordinator will act as an advocate for Native American patients in the effective utilization of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs, Third Party Liability, Sooner Care, Advantage Waiver, and other resources.

Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year’s experience in healthcare benefits including Medicaid and/or Marketplace is required
• Minimum of one year experience in a primary care clinic or healthcare setting required
• Extensive knowledge of Medicare, SCHIPS, SSA, and Oklahoma Health Care Authority program
• Requires ability and skills to perform in-depth interviews with patients to determine eligibility of alternate resources
• Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Act • Must have extensive knowledge of billing procedures as well as denial procedures
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Requires a high level of problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
• Must always maintain confidentiality
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Requires good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
• Must be able to travel and work outside of designated hours of operation
• Must be willing to retrieve certification as a Certified Application Counselor within the first 60 days of hire, if necessary.
• Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening and criminal background check
• Must have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
