Principal Objective of Position:
The Dispatcher will report directly to the Transportation Manager. The Dispatcher will schedule equipment and dispatch drivers for movement of materials, support sales in requesting and compiling pricing and distribute load pickups to various contracted haulers. Duties include using radio, telephone, cell phone, electronic dispatch system and computer to transmit assignments and compile statistics and reports on work progress.

- Communicate with maintenance and arrange for repairs
- Confer with customers, supervisors, and sales to address requests
- Prepare daily work and run schedules
- Manage customer requests and route assignments
- Oversee communication within the territory
- Record and maintain files and records of customer requests and services provided
- Determine amount of vehicle and drivers required to meet requests
- Ensure timely and efficient movement of materials
- Reconcile previous day(s) load sheet
- Work in office and perform essential data entry functions
Other Responsibilities:
- Order supplies and equipment and issue them to personnel as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and costs for moving materials by road
- Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong communication skills
- Safety oriented
- Ability to work on a team and independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree in related discipline, preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of equivalent experience, preferred
- Class A or B CDL, preferred, or willing to obtain
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
