Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide technical, operations, maintenance, and training support for municipal audio communications equipment. Employees in this classification perform at entry level and are responsible for assisting users with radios services. Work includes providing emergency support as needed for communication hardware and software.

- Installs, maintains, and repairs County communications equipment including radios, consoles, telephones, and audio equipment.
- Installs radio equipment in vehicles.
- Provides technical assistance to end users of radios equipment and system.
- Evaluates network performance and performance capacity in regards bi-directional amplifier and distributed antennas systems.
- Provides support in the Radio Frequency (RF), multiple radio management systems, RF test equipment, antenna concepts, FCC licensing, radio dispatch consoles, repeater systems, transmission lines and bulkheads.
- Performs routine repairs, programming, tuning and general maintenance to communications equipment and machinery.
- Receives inquiries and concerns, ascertains the nature of the request, and resolves personally, or directs to the appropriate individual or department.
- Provides consultation and assistance regarding communications needs and problems.
- Provides emergency support as needed for communication hardware and software; assists in diagnostics.
- Transports materials and equipment to, from, and within storage and operating areas.
- Performs general inventory work stocking materials and equipment in designated areas.
- Required to participate in rotating on-call status for radio system trouble.
- Assists in the resolution of any Public Safety Communications Center radio issue.
- Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Four (4) years’ radio frequency work experience in the design, engineering, installation, maintenance, testing, and/or repair of radio systems and associated equipment. An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered.
Miscellaneous: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of radio communications and telecommunications.
- General knowledge of principles and practices of the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Proficient with Motorola CPS software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to tune and program radio equipment.
- Ability to test for and repair defects in communication equipment.
- Ability to keep records and make reports.
- Ability to prioritize work, organize and make sound judgments in offender supervision both in the office and the field, skill in program planning and management.
- Ability to work independently in an office and field environment.
- Skill in interpersonal and leadership communications; ability to communicate professionally verbally, in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with all levels of management, employees, other departments, officials, and the general public; skill in the principles and techniques of customer service skills.
- Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
- Ability to read, update and maintain various records and files.

- Frequent (up to 2/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying up to 50 lbs.

- Physical demand requirements are in excess of medium work.
- Physical agility is required in kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching.
Salary : $23
