Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher/Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a Florida-certified teacher with a strong commitment to promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and sportsmanship in students. They will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging PE lessons, coaching sports teams, and fostering a positive and safe learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Develop and implement PE curriculum aligned with Florida state standards and grade-level expectations.
- Design and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skills development, and healthy habits.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including direct instruction, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction.
- Integrate technology and other resources into lesson plans.
Supervision:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during PE classes and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Enforce school rules and expectations.
- Address student behavior issues effectively and consistently.
Assessment:
- Develop and utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and program effectiveness.
- Provide students with regular feedback on their performance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
Coaching:
- Coach one or more sports teams, depending on the school's needs and the teacher's qualifications.
- Develop and implement practice plans and game strategies.
- Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.
Other Duties:
- Attend faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff members.
- Maintain and care for PE equipment and facilities.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Valid Florida state teaching certificate in Physical Education or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience teaching physical education at the appropriate grade level.
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage students.
- Strong commitment to promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
