Description
Terms of Employment: 52 week
Hours of work: M-F 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Reports to: Building Principal/Custodial Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Responsible for duties contained in Janitor II job description.
2. Operate hot water boilers.
3. Assist building custodian in boiler/heating system repairs.
4. Assist head custodian and be able to fill in for him/her when necessary.
5. Supervise building operations when activities outside of normal school instruction are being held.
6. Make minor repairs to building mechanical systems.
7. Promptly report any unsafe building maintenance to the building custodian.
8. Make routine mechanical repairs (for example, univents, belts, bearings, filters, checking oil and compression).
9. Make routine electrical repairs (for example, light switches, plugs on cords, ballasts, fuses on equipment).
10. Lead crew/custodial staff – serve as a crew leader as directed by building custodian.
11. Successfully complete pool operator course – if school has a pool.
12. Operate refrigeration system – if school has one.
13. Pool certification preferred.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in team processes for continuous quality improvement.
2. Perform such other tasks and assume such other duties as may be assigned.

Preferred:
1. Successfully perform Janitor II essential functions as evidenced by Janitor mastery check-off list.
2. Successful completion of Fireman training, including leadership, blueprint, electrical, mechanical and boiler courses/seminars preferred, but not required.
