Description
1.0 Building Custodian 2 (1st Shift)
5:30AM -2:00 PM
1. Responsible for duties contained in Janitor job description.
2. Operate hot water boilers.
3. Perform boiler/heating system repairs.
4. Arrange for building operation when activities outside of normal school instruction are being held.
5. Promptly report unsafe conditions.
6. Make routine mechanical repairs (for example, univents, belts, bearings, filters, checking oil and compression).
7. Make routine electrical repairs (for example, light switches, plugs on cords, ballasts, fuses on equipment).
8. Lead building/custodial staff.
9. Successfully complete pool operator course – if school has a pool.
10. Operate refrigeration system – if school has one.
11. Prepare and supervise yearly/monthly/daily cleaning/maintenance schedule.
12. Inspect building and grounds for proper maintenance and cleaning, and for unsafe conditions.
13. Maintain HVAC log sheets.
14. Schedule cleaning in event of staff absences.
15. Assist with building fire drills, as needed.
16. Assist with community, staff, parent and student use of building.
17. Operate energy management systems and adjust schedules.
18. Follow asbestos management plan.
19. Initiate work orders in timely fashion.
20. Perform test of fire alarm system and file monthly reports.
21. Maintain emergency generator, where applicable, and keep log.
22. Inspect elevator, elevator pit and related equipment daily.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participate in team processes for continuous quality improvement.
2. Perform such other tasks and assume such other duties as may be assigned.
