POSITION TITLE: Summer School Paraprofessional (PK-12) / Health Assistant (PK-12)
REPORTS TO: Lead Teacher/ESY Director
JOB GOAL: To create a flexible school program and a classroom environment favorable to individualized learning and personal growth and self-esteem.
NUMBER OF VACANCIES: Multiple (20)
Elementary and Middle Summer School Term of Employment:
Term of Employment: June 16 through July 17 (no school July 3))
Hours: 8:00 – 11:45 student hours. Hours vary depending on before and after school supervision duties (4.25 - 4.75 Hours/Day) Mondays through Thursdays.
High School Summer Term of Employment:
Term of Employment: Session 1 & 2, Total of 6 weeks - June 9 through July 18 unless otherwise stated
Hours: 7:30 – 1:00 (5-5.5 Hours/Day depending on assignment) Mondays through Fridays.
Out of district paraprofessional pay: $15.13 per hour
OASD paraprofessional pay: Current hourly rate of pay for the same/similar role during the regular school year (not daily sub rate).
DESCRIPTION:
Many paraprofessional opportunities are available at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for academic Special Education needs. You MUST apply through WECAN and also complete the information at the URL above to be considered for a summer school position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Treat all students, staff, parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience.
2. Assist teacher in:
4. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.
5. Maintain confidentiality of information about students.
6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
7. Participate in community outings including use of the Oshkosh Public Transportation System.
8. Assist with the personal care/self-help skills:
10.Assist with Augmentative Communication/Assistive Technology (including assisting students with computer programs).
11.Work with, direct and provide input back to the teacher when working with student teachers, volunteers, field experience students, and substitute teachers.
12.Assist specialists - art, music, Phy. Ed, media and speech, occupational and physical therapists.
13.Supervise and assist with bus loading and unloading and possible transfer of students.
14.Administer medications in accordance with school district policy.
15.Supervise students during lunch periods.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement and professional learning community initiatives.
2. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be determined by the professional staff within the parameters of the master agreement, board of education policies, state and federal statutes, and administrative rules.
3. Attend training for the position as deemed necessary by the administrator and teacher.

2. Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept. of Public Inst. #883 Handicapped Children’s Aide license.
3. Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) techniques or willingness to learn the techniques.
4. Current CPR and First Aid Training certification or commitment to obtain such upon employment.
5. Experience working with children in a structured setting preferred.
