The Day Camp Site Director is responsible for assisting the Youth & Family Director with all aspects of Camp Winni-Y-Co while reflecting a positive image of the YMCA and its services in the community.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Day Camp Site Director must meet all state, local, and YMCA regulatory standards for a Day Camp Director, must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications, and must have educational training or work experience in summer camps, childcare, education, child development, or recreation or must be currently in the process of receiving training in these fields. The Day Camp Site Director must be organized, hardworking, possess a warm, friendly personality, be and be willing to fulfill the responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
Must be available to work Monday through Friday from May 30-August 29 and oversee three camp overnights (during that timeframe). Hours vary between 6:30am-6:30pm.

Duties And Responsibilities
- To provide an environment in which Y core values can be taught, modeling and teaching core values of caring, honest, respect, and responsibility.
- Assist in maintaining staff in accordance with the goals, policies, and philosophy of the YMCA.
- Assist in overseeing all aspects of Camp Winni-Y-Co
- Assist in overseeing all aspects of summer staff (training, planning, evaluating, & facilitating)
- Act as Day Camp Site Director from May-August each year. Overseeing all aspects of program operations and staff supervision.
- Assist with interviewing potential staff.
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
- Plan and implement weekly staff meetings.
- Provide day-to-day management and training of staff, issue necessary disciplinary action in conjunction with the Youth & Family Director.
- Lead staff in maintaining the property and program equipment.
- Maintain staff records in accordance to State Licensing Regulations.
- Counsel staff when necessary.
- Create staff schedules, maintain procedures, and handle call-ins of staff
- Assist in providing consistent parent communication and offer parent involvement activities often.
- Be available to parents for conferences/meetings on a regular basis.
- Notify parents of injuries and illnesses.
- Create & distribute weekly newsletters.
- Oversee monthly family campout.
- Assist with managing social media pages (Facebook)
- Assist in maintaining state licensing regulations.
- Ensure license is in good standing at all times.
- Address non-compliance issues immediately.
- Monitor staffing in accordance with ratio guidelines.
- Maintain a working relationship with state licensor.
- Assist in maintaining the Wisconsin Child and Adult Care Food Program & State Licensing Requirements
- Monitor recordkeeping
- Create weekly menus & order food service items
- Assist in operating within the Camp annual budget.
- Monitor expenses regularly/weekly. (program supplies)
- Do supply shopping (weekly)
- Setting guidelines for daily schedules and curriculum on site
- Ensure developmental needs of children are being met in all areas.
- Be available to staff as a resource.
- Review and approve all weekly activity/lesson plans.
- Assist in the upkeep of the camp property, program supplies, and animals
- Continuously inspect & maintain all program areas, trails, and equipment.
- Assist with the success of our quail and butterfly program.
- Any other duties assigned by the Youth & Family Director

Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old or older (we do have a lead counselor position if you are not old enough for this position)
- Two or more years of supervisory or administrative experience in an organized camp or children’s program.
- A bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, recreation, coaching, juvenile justice, social work, psychology, child development, or education, or another camp-related field (preferred).
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time on their feet in an outdoor setting.
- Human relations skills. Must be able to supervise others and maintain and professional and working relationship with staff.
- General knowledge of DCF 252 licensing rules, nutrition, health, and first aid.
- Posses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and proper reporting procedures.
- Posses working knowledge of the YMCA mission, philosophy, and goals. Have positive and professional attitude while implementing YMCA values into programming.
- Conduct self in a positive, professional, and responsible manner.
