Member Services creates a welcoming environment, supports our members through their use of the Y and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Member Services are professional administrative staff who validate memberships, enroll new members, facilitate program registration and provide support to both members and staff. Member Services is knowledgeable about all the Y's programs and services, answer questions and help members navigate their use of the Y.
Hours per Week: Full Time/ hourly
Workday: Afternoons, Evenings, and Weekends
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Membership Coordinator, the Membership Specialist Lead is responsible for membership sales, program registration and providing informational services to members and guests. Building lasting relationships with our members is essential to the growth and longevity of the YMCA and our mission. The Oshkosh Community YMCA strives to extend the very best in customer care to all who come through our doors!
- Must be a team player, with excellent interpersonal and problem/conflict solving skills
- Possess an outgoing and enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y.
- Provide exceptional customer service to our members and guests.
- Provide information on available programs and scheduled services to members and staff.
- Provide tours of the facility to prospective members.
- Serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Will assist in recruiting and training new staff team members.
- Certifications required – maintain CPR/AED, and First Aid.
Applicants must be able to move freely throughout the building. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years’ experience in customer service. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, computer and communications skills required. Demonstrated ability to develop and teach skills required. Schedule availability for 40 hours weekly Sunday through Saturday. Lead positions are Y team leaders who ensure all members guests feel welcome.
