Job Description:
The Oshkosh Country Club is seeking candidates for our available Lifeguard position. We need a dynamic and fun personality to join our growing group and facility. We're looking for a friendly and outgoing person to join our team who exemplifies uncompromising hospitality and efficiency in serving our members and guests. We want you to make a great first impression with every guest and raise the bar on service. Our ideal employee must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with members, guests and co-workers. We want you to have the availability to work nights and or days, as well as weekends and holidays
Hours per Week:Part-Time, seasonal, 15-40 hours per week
Work Days: Must be able to work between 10am-7pm. Season will run Memorial Day thru Labor Day.
Requirements: Must be at least 15 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Completion of lifeguarding course is a must before starting job.
Responsibilities: Keep our pools safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to our members. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety, supervision, and discipline and customer service of all patrons using the pool facilities. The lifeguard’s work is specialized in protecting life, following instructions and assisting in the operation of the public swimming facility. Lifeguards are also responsible for the cleanliness of the facility including the deck.
Duties, Responsibilities and Work Performed:
- Provide preventative lifeguarding while supervising patrons at the facility so that all policies, rules and regulations are observed and enforced.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations.
- Provide rescue to swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning.
- Administer first aid or artificial respiration in the event of an injury or emergency.
- Immediately report any emergencies to the Pool Manager.
- Complete necessary forms as necessary.
- Ensure the facility is clean and free of debris or hazards.
- Assist in groundwork to keep the facility in a presentable form.
- Maintain and care for facility equipment and inform the Pool Manager of equipment that is unsafe or in need of replacement or repair.
- Attend all in-service training to continue training and practice lifeguarding skills.
- Provide assistance in instruction of swimming lessons.
- Provide courteous and expeditious customer service.
- Adhere to safety rules, policies and guidelines of the facility.
- Perform any other work required by Pool Manager.
- Qualifications for Position:
- Qualified candidates for the Lifeguard position must:
- Have attained the minimum age requirement of 15 by the beginning of the season.
- Possess a valid Lifeguard Certificate: Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certificate. Certificate must be valid for duration of employment.
- Possess a valid CPR, First Aid, AED Pro Certificate: Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis and Associates Certificate. Certificate must be valid for the duration of employment.
- Have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques, rescue methods and first aid.
- Successfully complete pre-season training.
- Be able to swim with proficiency and endurance for possible rescues.
- Maintain constant surveillance of an assigned zone and address activities that could escalate into a dangerous situation.
- Demonstrate good judgment and appropriately respond to emergency situations.
- Remain calm and efficient under stress as well as demonstrate commitment, discretion and integrity.
- Have knowledge of policies, rules and regulations governing swimming pool operations.
- Be able to communicate effectively with patrons and staff.
- Be able to follow instructions, supervise activities, give directions and enforce rules and regulations.
- Have the ability to work under minimal direct supervision.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Possess mental alertness, tact, courtesy when establishing and maintaining working relationships with pool staff, pool operator, and members.
- Transport materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- See and hear within a normal range with or without correction.
