Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resource Generalist to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various HR functions and ensuring smooth operations within the department. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a solid understanding of human resources practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Multiple responsibilities in a busy Human Resource office. Perform various administrative duties related to the day-to-day details of the Human Resource functions such as child support forms, unemployment inquiries and other state agency requests for information, paid and unpaid leave administration, requests for reports and information from other departments, and manage all paper and electronic files.
- Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodation, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Interacts frequently with employees and managers, and responds to questions/concerns regarding employment, benefits, company practices, etc. Fosters a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Manages employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and completes investigations.
- Manages all benefit programs including annual renewals working with management to determine offerings and pricing, open enrollment, new hire benefits, and compliance reporting.
- Provides support and backup to the Payroll and Recruiting functions, including new employee orientations. Familiar with payroll administration for several states and associated laws.
- Coordinates company events such as picnics, lunches and monthly meetings.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations for several states, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Assists with all other duties in the Human Resource Department or wherever as needed. May assist with Safety and Environmental programs.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with employees at all levels and outside entities
- Familiarity with HR laws and regulations and overall benefits administration processes
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- Ability to work collaboratively with others while managing multiple priorities effectively
- Empathy to meet people where they are and foster a positive work environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of five years of human resource management experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft software including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint with above average skills in Excel. Prior experience with ADP HRIS or a similar package. Professional, service oriented manner when working with others is necessary.
