What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Development Technician position at OSI Group?
This is an entry level role within our product development organization to support the product development team on all administrative functions as well as perform tests on raw, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with product specification requirements.

- Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
- Follow test plan and successfully make samples including weigh ingredients and recording test results accurately.
- Cleaning the kitchen equipment for the department.
- Monitor ingredient quantities and report needs to manager or food scientist.
- Confirm all ingredients are in code and communicate any challenges to a manager.
- Assist with pilot plant production which includes but not limited to set up equipment, perform testing tasks and break down equipment.
- Assist with sample evaluation and select samples for customer evaluation and arrange shipment.
- Other administrative duties include but are not limited to, creating purchase orders, ordering supplies, processing invoices, scheduling sample shipments, tracking sample shipments, and communicating to the customer shipment status.
- Responsible for inventory incoming ingredients and samples and manage the pilot plant supplies
- This role has the responsibility to understand and place in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 0-1 years of experience in related field is preferred.
- Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
- Knowledge of taring a scale is a plus
- Must be able to taste all products produced and created within R&D.
- Must be able to read and follow directions
- Self-starter / Self Motivated
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent work experience is required.
- Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyors (may depend on the role).
- Work conditions are typical of an R&D Center.
- This role does not require any domestic travel
- Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
- Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Greater than 4 hours.
- Will be exposed to the touch, feel, and taste of beef, poultry, turkey, dairy, fish, and the standard allergens (milk, egg, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, wheat, and soy) .
