Job Overview
Job location is not local! We represent four camps in New York, Maine, California looking for equestrian directors or horseback riding instructors.
As an Equestrian Director, you’ll lead a dynamic horseback riding program focused on American Forward Seat (hunt seat) for campers of all skill levels—from first-time riders learning to lead, mount, and steer, to advanced riders practicing cantering and jumping courses. You'll oversee a well-trained herd of 10–12 horses, manage barn operations, and supervise a team of skilled instructors.
This role includes designing and teaching lessons in grooming, tacking, stable management, and riding fundamentals, with room to incorporate trail rides and special events. You'll also develop the curriculum, schedule lessons, order supplies, and support staff through feedback and supervision.
The positions offers private housing, meals, travel allowance, and the opportunity to create an engaging, inclusive equestrian experience in a supportive camp community.

Requirements
- Experience in horse care and English riding (documented preferred)
- Ability to teach basic riding skills to youth of all levels
- Passion for working with children and being outdoors
- Must be 19 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent (or completion of camp training program)
- CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
- Positive role model with strong integrity, maturity, and self-control
- Team player with enthusiasm, patience, and a great sense of humor
- Willingness to work hard, follow camp policies, and accept guidance
- Comfortable supervising and mentoring campers
- Ability to lead or assist in stable management and riding programs
- Bonus: Leadership experience or interest in developing lesson plans and managing equipment/scheduling

Pay: $1,500.00 - $3,000.00 per month
