What are the responsibilities and job description for the Land Manager position at Oswit Land trust?
Goals of position include:
- Mapping, inventory, and reporting on flora and fauna of Oswit Land Trust properties
- Property supervision including coordinating volunteer trail ambassador program
- Managing and scheduling weekly staff and volunteer work crews
- Invasive species management
- Planting/reestablishing/care of native species * Establishing/maintaining signage and fencing
- Maintenance and development of approved trails * Mitigating human impacts (off-trail walking, trash, homeless encampments, off-
road vehicles etc.) * Meetings and record keeping
- Updates to the grant agency
- Work with team to acquire new properties
Required Experience/Skills
- Preferred B.A. or B.S. or equivalent experience in Restoration Ecology, Environmental
Science, Environmental Planning, Earth System Science, Biology, or other applicable
environmental field with strong ecological background.
- Fierce interest in the protection of nature and wildlife
- Strong administrative skills * Strong interpersonal and volunteer management skills
- Background or desire to learn how to map, inventory, and care for our natural assets * Willing to work many hours per week outside in the desert environment
- Willing to supervise/maintain OLT properties which involve miles of hiking trails and
over rugged terrain
- Use of landscape and trail building tools, some lifting required * Willing to work outside, starting at 6am during summer months to avoid heat
- Able to work some weekends * Use of own car to travel to properties
