The Nursing Assistant Certified functions within their scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to assist in providing care and implementing delegated activities of the nursing plan. They demonstrate an understanding of basic nursing skills and skills unique to the assigned clinical unit (s).
Following orientation, the Nursing Assistant Certified assumes delegated responsibility which may include (but not limited to) such tasks as: meeting the hygienic, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort and safety needs of patients; obtains and reports/records vital signs; intake and output, transports (transfers, discharges) patients; obtains supplies/equipment as necessary from designated departments; performs point of care testing. This Nursing Assistant Certified may be assigned to provide care and functional assistance to other patient care areas.
