Building Secretary-Bilingual Spanish Required*- @ Othello High School 8.0 hours/day
Job Description
- Demonstrate initiative, resolve, efficiency and rapport with all students, staff and community members.
- Provides secretarial services for supervisor to include typing, filing and recording meeting minutes.
- Serve as office manager and receptionist and maintain all office records.
- Maintain all student records and files.
- Assume the appropriate bookkeeping for General Fund and ASB Funds.
- Responsible for all building correspondence including daily bulletin, letters from office and building reports.
- Maintain records and perform duties related to ordering, receiving, invoicing and inventory.
- Assist with minor health-related issues.
- Serve as liaison between schools and homes, supporting parent involvement, conducting parent training sessions and assisting with school related questions.
- Assists in transportation of student to and from school or medical appointments or social services.
- Facilitates communication between parents and the school through phone and written communications from the building and/or the OSD.
- Gathers information from home visits that will be useful in determining how best to meet the needs of the student and parent relative to improving attendance and making the school experience more meaningful.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successfully pass a skill review in math, bookkeeping aptitude, and, of which some is written and practical (Building Secretary Test).
- Personable, punctual, dependable, good sense of humor, ability to deal with people, ability to deal with stress, good time management skills, and good initiative.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with patrons or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Able to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
- Ability to adjust focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at 20 inches or less, and clear vision at 20 feet or more.
- *Must pass Spanish proficiency test administered by OSD (oral and written)

Salary: Per CBA – Schedule A
Hours: 8.0 hours/day
Contracted Days: 213 work days & 7 holidays (220 total contracted days)
