Role Overview:
Otis Elevator Company is seeking a highly motivated Controls Technician to join our Controls Engineering team. This role involves supporting automation, data, and control processes within our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will excel in troubleshooting automated machinery, control sensors, and conveyors, as well as tracing and understanding PLC logic and robot code. They will be adept at identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to restore production to expected levels.
On a Typical Day You Will:
- Support the factory in all aspects of the electrical maintenance troubleshooting using PLC and robot programming skills by having a thorough understanding of the sequence of operation of each machine.
- Debug and make PLC/Robot/HMI program changes to improve existing automated process.
- Respond to any equipment downtime issues in the factory and establish any required outside resources to assist in resolving issues quickly.
- Train and develop the plant electricians to increase their ability to understand and troubleshoot controls-related issues in the factory.
- Manage small improvement projects in the factory.
- Install and wire automation equipment based on electrical design schematics.
- Ensure the completion dates for all project assignments are met.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or another electrical/automation-related field or equivalent related experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Controls Technician, Maintenance Technician, or in a similar role within a manufacturing facility or related position (preferably a System Integrator)
- High level of PLC/Robot troubleshooting (programming experience a plus) with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Experience with Allen Bradley Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, and FactoryTalk View HMI development software
- Experience with programming and troubleshooting robots such as ABB, Fanuc, and Motoman/Yaskawa
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills by undergoing extensive interview process
- Strong teamwork capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues
- Advanced-level computer skills
- Hands-on approach to engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or another electrical/automation-related field or equivalent related experience
- 5 years of experience as a Controls Technician, Maintenance Technician, or in a similar role within a manufacturing facility or related position (preferably a System Integrator)
