Job Summary:
The Health Care Registrar is responsible for ensuring efficient patient registration, admission, and billing processes within a healthcare facility. This role involves gathering patient information, verifying insurance, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records while providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:1. Patient Registration:
- Register patients upon arrival, ensuring all necessary information is collected and accurately entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Verify patient identity and demographic information; obtain necessary consent forms and signatures.
- Ensure proper documentation and data entry for new and returning patients.
2. Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits; obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
- Communicate with insurance companies to confirm coverage, eligibility, and co-payment requirements.
- Inform patients about their financial responsibilities, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
3. Appointment Scheduling:
- Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures in coordination with clinical staff and according to physician availability.
- Manage cancellations, rescheduling, and appointment confirmations; maintain an accurate appointment calendar.
4. Billing and Payments:
- Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances at the time of service.
- Generate and distribute patient invoices and statements; assist with billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Work with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance claims.
5. Customer Service:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and families in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide information about hospital or clinic services, directions, and general policies.
- Handle patient complaints, concerns, or questions with empathy and professionalism, escalating issues when necessary.
6. Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Ensure all patient documentation is completed, scanned, and properly stored in the EHR system.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
