Job Summary
This is a full-time, benefited position working at various locations throughout Ottawa County. The successful candidate will have experience as a law enforcement officer and be certified or currently attending a police academy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain law and order, prevent crime, deal with complaints, and render emergency assistance to the public as a uniformed officer.
- Patrol assigned areas of the county in motorized equipment to preserve law and order and prevent and discover the commission of crime.
- Escort prisoners to court, testify in court proceedings, and assist in prosecution.
- Administer emergency assistance at accident scenes, direct and control traffic, conduct investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, make arrests, and prepare detailed reports.
- Record and take follow-up action on citizen calls and complaints.
- Provide assistance and information to the public.
Requirements:
- Certified or currently attending a police academy.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ability to gain a good working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and attain efficiency in methods and practices of criminal investigation.
- Proficiency in the use of firearms.
