Transporation Route Driver

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Route Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently to designated locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate various routes while adhering to delivery schedules. The Route Driver will play a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and accurate deliveries.

Duties

• Operate commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, vans, and tankers, to transport freight and heavy equipment.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
• Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery times while considering traffic patterns and road conditions.
• Load and unload cargo as necessary, ensuring proper handling of all materials.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
• Communicate with dispatchers regarding any delays or issues encountered during transportation.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations governing commercial vehicle operation.

Skills

• Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial vehicle operation.
• Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws.
• Ability to operate various types of vehicles including heavy haul trucks and yard jockeys.
• Excellent navigation skills with familiarity of local roadways.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
• Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting heavy loads and performing manual tasks related to loading/unloading freight.
• A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required for this position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
