Overview
Otterbein has an employment opportunity for a Part-Time Floor Care Specialist. The Custodian/Floor Care Specialist provide a clean, safe environment for residents, guests and employees. Under the direction and supervision of the housekeeping/laundry liaison or environmental services mentor, completes scheduled/assigned project tasks such as floor stripping/refinishing, carpet extraction, wall washing, etc. Performs general custodial duties.
Responsibilities
- Able to work independently and display good sound judgement when making independent decisions
- Keeps work area clean and free of hazardous conditions, ensures equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored before leaving areas
- Demonstrates technical knowledge of products (project specific chemicals) and proper use and mixing
- Demonstrates proper operation of equipment – Auto Scrubber and Burnisher
- Performs general cleaning procedures of rooms, stairwells, windows, elevators, etc.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge and operation of Spill/Spot cleaning, Carpet Extractors and upright/walk behind vacuums
- Maintains stock room, breaks down boxes and assists with moves
- Proper cleaning and storage of mops, buckets, wringers, etc.
- Make rounds of interior building to ensure office security at the end of shift
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience: one year experience in floor care preferred; must possess personal skills, traits and desire to care for ill, disabled and elderly residents and to work with families, staff and support agencies to provide cooperative quality care
