Summary of Position
1 full-time temporary Store Clerk of the Aleutian’s WWII Visitor Center in Unalaska and provides day to day operations support of the visitor center.
Essential Functions
Provide day to day operations of the Visitor Center;
Operate a cash register and credit card machine;
Use proper cash-handling controls;
Prepare daily bank deposits and deliver to supervisor daily;
Track sales and admission statistics each day and summarize in reports;
Keep inventory reports maintained and up-to-date;
Operate front counter including sales and admissions, answering phones and answering customers’ questions regarding exhibits and history relating to WWII, the Aleutian Campaign, the Visitor Center, and the Aleutian WWII Historic Area;
Light cleaning such as dusting, stocking of restroom supplies, removing garbage from waste cans, mopping, shoveling walks, etc.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Knowledge of World War II History with an emphasis on the Aleutian Campaign, or willingness to learn.
Ability to use equipment found in the normal office setting.
Ability to keep accurate records and prepare daily and monthly reports.
Ability to operate a small store including maintenance of inventories, handling cash.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and peers.
Ability to communicate effectively – orally and in writing.
Must have or have the ability to obtain and retain a valid Alaska Drivers License before starting work as well as possess and maintain a good driving record.
