Position
Perform all steps necessary for testing, processing, cryopreservation, and shipping of cell therapy products, including HPC-Apheresis, HPC-Marrow, and Peripheral Mononuclear Cells (MNCs).
Qualifications
- Completion of or current enrollment in an accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) training program is encouraged but not required
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
- At least Associate degree in MLT or MT/MLSrePrior experience in a cellular therapy laboratory is required in lieu of completion of or current enrollment in an accredited MT/MLS/MLT training program.
- Participate in environmental cleanliness and sanitation program to help eliminate sources of product contamination and maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain the Cell Therapy laboratory and Cryo Storage in a clean and orderly manner.
- Ensure laboratory equipment quality control, and maintenance was performed before use.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is within calibration before use.
- Perform laboratory activities per current written policies, processes, procedures and instructions.
- Perform concurrent and accurate documentation of laboratory activities.
- Qualify reagents for use in the laboratory.
- Monitor laboratory reagents levels, quality and expiration.
- Accurately prepare reagents and samples for flow cytometric analysis and other testing, as required.
- Prepare and analyze test samples for the enumeration of CD34 cells and viability using flow cytometry.
- Using sterile technique, obtain bacterial/fungal culture samples from cell therapy products for sterility testing.
- Perform proficiency testing as required.
- Provide and communicate test results as appropriate.
- Process and/or cryopreserve peripheral hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) and peripheral mononuclear cells (MNC) for storage and/or distribution.
- Label and label verify cell therapy products.
- Properly pack and ship liquid and cryopreserved Cell Therapy products in accordance with regulations.
- Participate in active management of frozen inventory ensuring proper storage, disposition and discard.
- Review patient and donor records as appropriate.
- Submit billing for services laboratory services performed in a timely manner.
- Report deviations from established processes and procedures.
- Actively participate in all quality meetings, quality investigations and internal operation meetings to eliminate causes of waste and error.
- Assist with writing Cell Therapy Lab procedures and validation plans as needed.
- Perform cell therapy lab validation procedures as appropriate.
- Review and perform verification of new and updated Lab documents as needed as assigned on scheduled basis.
- Obtain a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education related to cellular therapy per year.
