SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Internal Program Manager (IPM), the Resource Navigator Assistant will be responsible for holding office hours at all shopping sessions in order to connect our guests to resources they need and subsequently providing follow up in the manner of email, phone calls, or appointments at ODB or previously agreed upon sites with IPM approval. Our goal is to ensure our guests feel supported and adequately assisted to make necessary connections to enable lasting change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Internal Program Manager and Resource Navigators with guest relationships through regularly scheduled shopping hours and any other special events or distribution events as instructed by Executive Director.
- Assist the Internal Program Manager to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere for guests of ODB.
- Build relationships with guests who request information about other resources available to them throughout the county, get information about their needs, and follow up with them to ensure proper connections were made when resource information was passed along. (via phone, email, or in-person appointments with approval from IPM)
- Create community partnerships through relationships and connections across Payne County to best assist our guests.
- Cultivate our current relationships with service agencies in the county and expand our capacity with new or changing resources that would benefit our guests.
- Track and document services provided to guests with appropriate data to help us continue to meet needs and properly evaluate this position.
- Update resource directory as needed.
- Use our creative content program to help each department to develop outgoing materials for guests, donors, and volunteers.
- Update all resource and announcement boards and presentations throughout the facility.
- Work alongside both Resource Navigators to collaborate with and expand our resources that are available to our guests.
- Translate documents, graphics, flyers, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from volunteers, guests, donors, community organizations, and the general public.
- Ability to speak fluently in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong analytical skills required. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn new technological applications.
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate leadership experience/skills. Familiarity with anti-hunger/anti-poverty initiatives. Ability to work and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to work in a team and within broad coalitions. Must be a self-starter who is driven and capable of keeping track of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Must be highly organized with an ability to pay attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships; strategic, creative, progressive thinker. Ability to learn, concentrate, think and work well with management, co-workers, and guests.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with retail, volunteer, non-profit, or community service experience. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred but not required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation (some travel required).
- Clearance of background investigation and drug screen.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: There may be extended periods of standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate but may be higher when operating equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
SCHEDULE: Part time (20 hours per week) PLUS one Saturday a month (4 hours) worked into the 20 hours. Occasional seasonal events and additional evening/weekend hours. Overtime only with prior approval.
COMPENSATION: Anticipated pay rate is based on education and previous experience but ranges from $13.00-15.00 per hour.
