Position Summary:
The Thriving Black Church Initiative (TBCI) Program Specialist will create and curate
high-quality contextualized resources to help the Black Church thrive post-COVID. This
role is responsible for designing and developing interactive and engaging content and
learning activities that meet the needs of our congregations and comply with accepted
best practices in hybrid-learning.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide administrative and operational support for the Thriving Black Church Initiative.
2. Manage TBCI reporting on activities related to key meetings, events, and information required from partner churches.
3. Manage project timelines and budgets for all new TBCI content.
4. Stay up to date with trends in discipleship, bible engagement, and culturally responsive teaching methods, applying these insights to TBCI programs.
5. Manage the instructional design process for all TBCI courses and digital learning resources, ensuring the construction and release of new courses and/or new versions of courses on schedule and within budget.
6. Interface with Black content creators, theologians, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create culturally relevant ODBU courses and TBCI events.
7. Oversee the execution and quality control of TBCI in-person engagement activities and ODBU content, regularly updating materials based on feedback and learning outcomes.
8. Make data-driven evaluations of content effectiveness and suggest improvements based on participant feedback and assessment performance.
9. Work collaboratively across the ministry to align resources and ensure a positive user experience.
10. Manage and curate content, ensuring all resources are vetted, accessible, organized, and aligned with educational goals.
11. Coordinate the development and uploading of new course materials, presentations, videos, and documents.
12. Provide technical and functional support to users, including denominational partners, Coordinators, and TBCI Church Ambassadors.
13. Design and implement user onboarding processes and guides to help participants engage with the platform effectively.
14. Manage the Learning Groups and Discussion Forums.
15. Work collaboratively with ODBU’s systems administrator to troubleshoot issues and actively improve the user experience.
16. Coordinate and execute virtual and in-person events, including training sessions, workshops, and community gatherings.
17. Manage event logistics, from scheduling and registration to technical support and post-event follow-up.
Job Specifications
Job Title: Program Specialist
Study or Knowledge and Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Christian Education, Theology, Business, or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
● Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
● Familiarity with Black church communities and a commitment to developing culturally relevant educational resources.
● Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly in working with
subject matter experts and across departments.
● Maintains a high working proficiency in the LMS (LearnDash), Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite software, and other tools as needed.
● Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.
