Job Summary:
The position of Assistant Director of Development will focus the majority of their time securing sponsorships, planning, and executing all fundraising events managed by the Development Department. This includes the following annual events: The Spirit Gala (November), Meat Raffle (March), Pickleball Tournament (April), and Golf Tournament (June). In addition, the Assistant Director will coordinate Mercy’s annual Day of Giving in support of the Mercy Fund and work alongside the Vice President of Development on annual fundraising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Vice President of Development, solicit sponsors for all fundraising events originating out of the Development Office
- Responsible for identifying and bringing new donors into the annual fund pipeline
- Manage event logistics with both external vendors and internal contacts (facilities, food service, faculty)
- Steward event sponsors to build stronger relationships with Mercy. Handle sponsor correspondence related to marketing benefits (ads or signage), recognition, and payment
- Support the Spirit Gala co-chairs and any sub-committee chairs as needed to ensure their vision for the event is executed and fundraising goals are being met
- Recruit and coordinate event volunteers
- In consultation with the Marketing/Communications Department, manage the design and production of event invitations, promotional brochures, event programs, and other marketing materials
- Process event checks, invoices, and in-kind donations through the Finance Department
- Generate financial reports related to events and manage event budgets
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- College degree and five-plus years of experience in a similar role
- Detail‐oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects effectively
- Proven track record and desire to solicit sponsorships and gifts
- Ability to effectively work with volunteers
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of fundraising and auction software programs (i.e., Raiser’s Edge, Trellis) a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods at a computer desk
- Position requires a driver’s license, the ability to drive and to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time during events
In addition to key responsibilities, the Assistant Director of Development will perform other duties as assigned.
Pay Range:
- $65,000 - $70,000 a year (salary commensurate with experience). This is a full-time, exempt position.
