Overview
The Bookkeeper will provide bookkeeping and administrative support to the Business Administrator to ensure that the ministries of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church run smoothly and are well represented to the congregation and the community at large.

Salary and Benefits
This is a full time, twelve-month ministry position. The Bookkeeper is classified as a “regular, full-time employee” under the classification system established in the ORLBC Employee Handbook and is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week, doing what it takes to fulfill the reasonable requirements of this ministry on an ongoing basis. Bookkeeping Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s bookkeeping duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Maintaining the church’s and school’s accounting systems through the use of QuickBooks accounting software; Recording all financial transactions in the systems and maintaining accurate and appropriate documentation for all transactions.
- Maintaining the school's online tuition management system and the related accounts receivable transactions; setting up new families in the system, monitoring the timely payment of all accounts, working with families and answering tuition and other incidental payment questions when they arise.
- Preparing all bank deposits; taking deposits to bank; arranging for cash bags to be used for various church and school events (admissions and concessions for school athletic events, special church events, etc.)
- Reconciling and balancing various bank checking and savings, credit card, and investment accounts; Reconciling petty cash accounts; Reconciling other general ledger accounts to ensure their accuracy.
- Compiling various reports using data within the accounting system and/or other administrative/financial records at the request of the Business Administrator.
- Preparing and completing all bi-weekly payroll processing functions, including calculating employee wages from time records, preparing paychecks, entering paychecks for online direct deposit, and distribution of employees’ electronic paystubs.
- Calculating and ensuring the timely transmittal of all payroll-related tax deposits and employee benefit payments (401(k) contributions, health insurance premiums, Flexible Benefit Plan payments).
- Preparing all quarterly and annual payroll tax returns/reports; Preparing periodical payroll reports for other federal and state agencies (ND Workforce Safety, Retirement plan annual census reports, etc.)
- Assisting the Business Administrator with various HR responsibilities including initial setup of new employees in accounting software; assisting with employee enrollment in various benefit programs; assisting with required employee payroll and/or benefit-related communications, etc.
- Performing other bookkeeping and/or administrative duties as assigned by the Business Administrator.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities of paid or voluntary staff.
Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred but not required. Bookkeeping and/or administrative experience and/or training required.
Mathematical Skills
The successful candidate for this ministry position will possess the ability to correctly and efficiently calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, the successful candidate should be proficient in the use of QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to achieve proficiency in the management the school’s online tuition management system is also required.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
