What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Clerk of Court position at Outagamie County?
Join our team as a Deputy Clerk of Courts! In this role, you'll maintain court records, attend proceedings to document minutes and manage exhibits, prepare court documents, and assist with jury management. Additional responsibilities include processing payments for jurors and witnesses and ensuring accurate and timely handling of warrants. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years of legal administrative experience, and strong communication and confidentiality skills. Paralegal training and familiarity with court operations are a plus. Be part of a professional team supporting the justice system!

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm with occasional overtime.

- Maintains court records in accordance with statutory requirements and within recommended procedures.
- Attends court proceedings, takes minutes, marks exhibits, and administers oaths to witnesses and jurors.
- Reduces judgments of the court to written documentation for court signature. Prepares other documents following court proceedings. Cancels appropriate warrants in a timely manner.
- Assists in jury management and maintenance of juror panels. Prepares juror and witness payment vouchers.
- Initiates and maintains court records using automated systems.
- Communicates with court personnel, attorneys and the general public through written and oral communications.
- Provides a variety of clerical support services, composes and prepares correspondence as needed using computer and word processing software.
- Maintains records regarding money judgments, liens, satisfaction of judgments and other related areas.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance and flexibility, works overtime/extra hours as required.
- Processes passport applications.
- High school graduate or equivalent with 3 years legal administrative experience.
- Paralegal training and knowledge of/exposure to court operations and systems.
- Requires confidentiality and excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
- Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and systematically handle a large volume of information, documents and files in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
- Ability to understand legal documents, statutes and court proceedings.

- Demonstrated proficiency in typing and related skills.

- Ability and willingness to accept and adapt to change.Must be reliable in attendance and flexible to work additional hours/overtime as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a large number of staff and the public at various levels.
- Ability to work effectively with co-workers, the general public and members of all socioeconomic groups by using tact, respect, diplomacy, cooperation and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds, understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.
