Job Summary
Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director and/or the Technologist, the Technologist Assistant:
- Is responsible for supporting the radiology staff and providing the first clinical point of contact for patients.
- Facilitates the patient flow to minimize patient wait times and maximize the utilization of resources.
- Demonstrates competence with all imaging safety compliance initiatives.
- Serves as part of the imaging center team and seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice.
- Identifies patients and provides assistance with the completion of pre-procedure forms.
- Starts IV access according to standard procedure under the direction of a Radiologist, and in accordance with state law.
- Corroborates patient's clinical history with physicians order and procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. May also verify informed consent, if applicable.
- Provides optimal patient care by explaining procedure to patient and answering questions.
- Follows established Safety Standards to ensure safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Collaborates with referring clinics to facilitate patient care.
- Assists staff with supply inventory needs and keeps rooms stocked as appropriate.
- Maintains all medical record documentation in RIS and PACS as appropriate.
- Participates in ongoing customer service and process improvement efforts.
- Facilitates film/CD readiness as needed for patients and referring offices.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Demonstrates consistent use of AIDET (Acknowledge patient, Introduce yourself, provide Duration/timeline for test, Explain the test, & Thank them for choosing our center) and HEAL ( Hear them out, Empathize, Apologize, & Leap into action to solve) when interacting with patients/customers.
- Takes the initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when work load/area allows.
- Attends/participates in staff meetings, in-services, and center-wide meetings as scheduled.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- Currently enrolled in your 2nd year of an ARRT approved Radiology Program
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrolled in good standing with an ARRT approved program, 2nd year
- BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to work efficiently as an extension of certified/registered staff or licensed independent practitioner.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
- Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
