Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including home community care, group homes, and assisted living facilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve by promoting independence and dignity. This role requires a strong understanding of the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, as well as the ability to provide physical assistance when necessary.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs and preferences.
- Support clients in community integration by facilitating participation in social and recreational activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with heavy lifting as required for mobility support or personal care tasks.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred; familiarity with home community care is a plus.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and techniques is beneficial.
- Previous experience in senior care or home health settings is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A background in nursing or related healthcare fields is desirable but not mandatory.
