Based in Bayfield, CO, Outpost Campers launched in the Summer of 2024 as a brand-new camper brand specializing in cutting edge composite slide-in truck campers. Our team started building campers in 2019 under the brand San Juan Vans and brought our skills and expertise in building campervans to this new platform. About the Position
The Camper Shell Builder reports directly to the Camper shell building production manager. The Camper Shell Builder position will work as a dedicated team member in our composite camper shell production line. This position will be primarily focused on helping assemble the exterior of the composite camper bodies, but will also assist in outfitting interiors of campers, wiring electrical systems, plumbing, and general carpentry type shop work. All our team members are also expected to help with other tasks that come up related to truck camper production, camper warranty work, inventory management, and general shop upkeep.
Tools used include caulking guns, chop saws, drills, grinders, impact drivers, and various other hand tools. We also use project management software accessible via smartphones and tablets. This is a physical job and will require being on your feet, lifting items over 50 lbs., standing on ladders, etc.
General construction/carpentry experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person who embodies our team’s cultural values. Being willing to learn the new and unique skills that go into building composite camper bodies is the biggest key. This is a highly specialized trade and many of the building skills and techniques will be new to most experienced builders.
The production team at Outpost Campers works a 4 day per week, 10 hours per day work schedule Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm (3 day weekends!). Any prospective employee must be able to transport themselves to our place of operations to work these hours.

All new hires are subjected to a 4-week probationary period. Pay will start at $18/hr. and increase to $20/hr. if the candidate is successful after the probationary period. Pay increases will be reviewed quarterly as employee performance and business conditions merit.
