TITLE: Maintenance Journeyperson DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
STATUS: PT/FT, Journeyperson, Union, Hourly REPORTS TO: Assistant Store Manager
JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost’s internal and external customers. To maintain a sanitized, clean and organized store appearance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced retail floor. Regular work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. floor scrubber), in high precarious places (i.e. ladder work), and in cold/hot climate conditions (i.e. outdoors). Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and machinery. Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Customer Service
Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.
2. Maintenance Department Responsibilities
Department Operations
Ensure that store and outside areas are in clean, orderly conditions at all times.
Vacuum store rugs daily.
Frequently clean and restock restrooms throughout the day.
Ensure daily or as needed sweeping and mopping of the retail floor, access hall and back stock floors.
Remove store trash to proper outside receptacles.
Assist with the store recycling.
Ensure the workshop rooms and break rooms are properly cleaned and maintained.
Ensure doors, windows, cases, aisles, shelves, etc. are clean.
Ensure that the ‘Outpost Maintenance Procedures’ for individual stores are performed to highest quality possible.
Water & maintain all store plants; assist in set-up of G&G displays and flower prep; maintain and water outdoor gardens.
Assist with end cap setup, stocking, and general departmental cleaning.
Order general maintenance supplies as needed to maintain effective maintenance and functional bathroom facilities.
Provide assistance to other departmental areas on a per request basis.
Attend department meetings as scheduled.
Personnel
Delegate duties to maintenance staff and ensure they are always busy.
Positively encourage department staff to excel at their job.
Replace vacant shifts when call ins, etc. occur. Notify manager of these occurrences.
Assist in training department staff.
Assist maintenance staff in following department standard operating procedures.
3. All Staff Duties
Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
Keep store orderly and clean.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Perform all other duties as assigned by assistant store manager or manager on duty.
