Position: FT Family Coordinator-Residential


Summary of Position:

The Full Time Family Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the service delivery of all formats provided to both the adolescent and family members throughout the treatment episode.

Job Scope:

1. Facilitate parent participation in the following formats: Initial family sessions, Parent Support Group, Multi Group, Family Sessions, Phone contact/support and assistance.

2. Development of family focused treatment plans with residents.

3. Facilitate letter group and gain information on the family system from the resident’s perspective.

4. Facilitate Post Pass group.

5. Provide individual sessions with clients and families as indicated.

6. Facilitate Chemical Dependency Education group for families.

7. Participate in weekly clinical formats, such as case conference, Department Head meetings, Package meeting.

8. Provide crisis intervention with residents and/or their parents including scheduling and facilitating re-assessments.

9. Supervise part-time Family Coordinator, Family Case Manager and graduate school interns.

10. Coordinate parent telephone list, sign in forms and multi-family session schedule.

11. Coordinate the screening, editing and response to incoming and outgoing letters.

12. Plan, organize and attend special family events including Thanksgiving celebration, Winter Holiday, etc.

13. Contact families by phone or letter, as needed.

14. Facilitate phone calls home for resident, as needed.

15. Screen, edit, and respond to incoming and outgoing letters to/from clients/parents.

16. Work approximately one Saturday a month to provide support to the resident community and to the Substance Abuse Counselors.


Qualifications

  • Interacting with staff, clients, students and visitors in a courteous, professional and respectful manner that is consistent with the agency’s mission and values.
  • Producing accurate, neat and thorough work.
  • Prioritizing and planning work time efficiently; effectively managing competing demands and dealing with changes, delays and unexpected events.
  • Understanding and consistently complies with agency policy and procedures (including time and attendance, dress code, etc…).
  • Supporting a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that allows the employee to get along with clients, students, coworkers and supervisors.
  • Communicating (in writing as well as orally) clearly and concisely
  • Illustrating flexibility and adaptability in role and function when circumstances warrant; (demonstrates openness to assist in needed responsibilities in evolving situations).
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries, ethics and professionalism; complying with agency, OASAS and other professional code(s) of ethics; seeking supervision when challenges arise.


Each role at Outreach has identified production and outcome goals. These goals may be stated as a number or as an outcome within an identified time frame. These goals are intended to provide each job holder the knowledge they need about expected performance. Accomplishments against these goals will be a discussion point in the annual evaluation.

Qualifications:

Experience working with adolescents and families in a substance abuse treatment setting. Exempt position.

Certificates & Licenses:

Masters degree in marriage and family therapy, clinical social work or a related graduate degree. QHP required (LMFT, LCSW, LMSW).

Position Status

This is a full-time non-exempt position. M-W 2p-10p; Thurs/Fri 10a-6p

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
