Position Summary:
The Counseling Services Manager is a combined administrative and clinical role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of counseling services, while also directly providing clinical care to clients. This position will manage both the operational and clinical components, ensuring high-quality service delivery in line with company goals, patient outcomes, and financial benchmarks. The manager will work to improve both efficiency and service delivery while fostering a supportive and productive environment for staff. The role includes leading the team of counselors, providing supervision, ensuring compliance with organizational and state regulations, and seeing clients directly as part of clinical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Oversee daily operations of counseling services, ensuring high-quality support for clients and operational efficiency.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of counselors and administrative staff and play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
- Conduct performance reviews for all staff
- Provide clinical supervision to all alcohol and drug trainees and provisionally licensed staff and sign off on their clinical hours.
- Attend weekly leadership meetings, collaborating on organizational strategy and addressing departmental needs.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to clients, conducting counseling sessions for substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorders.
- Manage a caseload and deliver therapeutic services in accordance with Maryland state guidelines.
- Monitor and track client progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure best practices are applied in all patient interactions.
- Assist in crisis intervention and provide support for complex client cases.
Service Delivery
- Ensure clients receive timely and effective counseling support tailored to their individual needs, aligning with best practices in mental health and substance use care.
Review and evaluate case management practices to maintain compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Address escalated client concerns, and collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure issues are resolved effectively.
Program Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate counseling programs and initiatives based on community or organizational needs.
- Develop workshops, support groups, and educational resources to promote mental health and substance use recovery.
- Stay informed about industry trends, ensuring that programs are based on evidence-based practices and compliant with Maryland state regulations.
Administrative Duties
- Manage the counseling services budget and allocate resources effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and client records in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational requirements, including Maryland state regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure integrated service delivery.
- Conduct chart reviews to ensure accurate and compliant documentation practices.
Additional Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support departmental or company goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field is required; a doctorate is preferred.
- Must hold an unrestricted license, LCADC (Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), and/or equivalent Behavioral Health Therapist credential in Maryland with at least five years of experience providing counseling services in substance use or mental health care..
- Must be a Board-Approved Supervisor for LGPC (Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor) and Alcohol/Drug counselors in Maryland is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in counseling or a related field, with progressively responsible roles.
