Day-to-Day Programmatic Roles and Responsibilities
The major functions as the Family Support Specialist is to actively engage the communities we serve. This role requires daily interaction with community members, community leaders, community groups and other organizations with a focus on developing a network of partners that can assist the individuals and families we serve and to offer these partners OYC services through a referral based system. In addition, this position will specifically focus on bridging gaps to break down barriers that may prevent clients from maximizing their potential. This role will involve engaging as a success coach with adult clients seeking educational and economic opportunities in order to promote goal achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist with the intake and assessment process for any new family and on annual basis.
- Provide case management and facilitate referrals for individuals and families in need of community resources
- Counsel individuals and families by using such activities as delineating alternatives, helping to articulate goals and providing needed information.
- Report accurate data monthly (or as indicated) to Director of Family Services
- Assist in grant reporting requirements
- Assist program team in maintaining 50% family engagement among OYC families
- Conduct and participate in monthly parent and / or community meetings
- Serve as primary advisor and success coach for working caseload of program / community participants seeking educational and / or employment assistance
- Prepare participants to transition into productive citizenship (i.e. college and / or career)
- Assist with employment hiring requirements (application, resume, WIOA)
- Provide ongoing advisement to each participant until participant has successfully achieved desired results
- Develop and implement communication strategies for promoting opportunities
- Develop, coordinate, and / or facilitate curricula, workshops and special projects as it relates to the individual / family financial stability, career success, health, wellness, positive parenting, or other topics.
- Assist in the implementation / execution of economic initiatives
- Coordinate with affiliate departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals
- Develop and execute orientation / program manuals / materials
- Monitor and document participant's progress (e.g., via case notes, individual / family success plans, attendance, referrals / linkages,
- Conduct home visits as needed
- Research / identify community resources available to support client needs
- Work collaboratively with community partners
- Other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor
