Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, customer-focused and detail-oriented Art Gallery Associate & Marketing Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong appreciation for art particularly African art, excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, strong marketing and social media skills, and enjoys engaging with clients and artists. You will play a key role in gallery operations, marketing efforts to help grow our audience and sales, assisting with sales, organizing exhibitions, and providing exceptional visitors’ experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Gallery Operations & Sales:
- Assist clients and collectors with inquiries, sales, and artwork recommendations.
- Greet and engage with visitors, providing insights about the gallery and current exhibitions.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure artwork is properly cataloged.
- Assist with day-to-day gallery upkeep, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
- Process sales transactions and maintain accurate sales records.
- Assist in the sale of artworks, including processing transactions and coordinating purchases.
- Ensure a welcoming and professional and clean atmosphere within the gallery.
Exhibition & Event Support
- Help set up and take down art exhibitions, both in the gallery and at off-site locations.
- Assist in planning and executing gallery events, including openings, artist talks, and private showings.
- Be present at gallery events to engage with guests and promote artwork.
- Support exhibition setup and dismantling, ensuring the space is well-maintained.
Marketing & Social Media
- Develop and execute social media strategies to promote exhibitions, events, and artists.
- Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos of artwork, events, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other relevant platforms.
- Assist in email marketing campaigns and newsletter creation.
- Conduct administrative tasks such as updating inventory, handling inquiries, and maintaining records.
- Coordinate with artists and curators to facilitate gallery programming.
- Promote gallery events and exhibitions through social media and email marketing.
- Provide guided tours and educational information to visitors and potential clients.
Qualifications & Skills
- MUST HAVE: Prior experience working in art galleries in this capacity
- MUST HAVE: Proven sales record and solid customer engagement experience
- Bachelors or Associates degree preferred
- Passion for art and knowledge of contemporary artists and trends.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience in retail, sales, or a related field is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in social media, Microsoft Office, and basic POS systems.
- Ability to lift and move artwork for exhibition setups and installations.
- Flexible and comfortable to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.

Pay: $36,000.00 - $60,688.58 per year
