What are the responsibilities and job description for the Authorization Specialist position at OVP Health?
Authorization Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete authorizations and referrals for services, including appointments and procedures
- Review patient's medical history and insurance coverage for approval
- Maintain authorizations extensions throughout treatment
- Pull and submit medical documentation as requested by payer
- Work denials related to authorization
- Input new patient information and update information in our system
- Assist with other clerical tasks as needed
Authorization Specialist Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Associate degree (a plus)
- Some experience in medical billing or insurance authorization (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Attention to detail
Work Environment:
This position operates in a corporate office setting with normal office hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
