What are the responsibilities and job description for the Character Performer position at OWA Parks & Resort?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educate guests on OWA’s brand, amenities, and promotions
- Increase brand awareness by bringing Toucan mascot to life
- Have friendly, positive, and informative interactions with guests
- Answer brand related questions for guests by providing excellent brand knowledge and leave every customer on a positive note
- Greet and engage guests of all ages
- Perform and provide guest service through performance, silent gestures, and character poses
- Engage and delight our guests to provide long-lasting memories and positive interactions
- Consistently execute toucan costume maintenance to ensure costume is always in operational show-ready condition
- Promote OWA to increase sales, brand awareness and build guests loyalty
- Work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment while communicating effectively with guests
- Track performance of inventory, and collect guests’ feedback
- Stay in communication with supervisor, answer texts and emails in a timely manner
- Transport booth and materials to event locations; set up/break down booth at the beginning and end of shift
- Store and secure company property when not in use
- Assist OWA social media team by taking photos of consumers interacting with the brand
- Adhere to brand standards on all marketing programs
- Ability to learn subject matter related to OWA and speak confidently in public settings
- Provide guests feedback on the brand and share new ideas to reach event guests
- Perform all other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Candidate must be 5’6"- 5’11" for this position
- Must have a High School diploma
- Ability to perform both indoors and outdoors in full costume
- Work effectively in a hot and claustrophobic costume environment
- Frequently required to walk, stand for long periods of time, balance, stoop, kneel, sit/stand repeatedly or crouch
- Previous character performing experience preferred
- Display good non-verbal communication skills to bring the character to life
- Ability to read individuals’ social cues to understand the level of interaction the guest may want
- Must be willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be willing to travel to offsite events within a 300-mile radius of Foley, Alabama
- Must be able to work efficiently in a fast paced, high volume work environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record; requires candidate be added onto insurance for company vehicles
- Must be able to lift items up to 25 lbs
- Able to work outdoors in sunny, hot, humid, cold, and rainy conditions
