SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Athletics will assist the Executive Athletic Director with providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of programs, staff, and facilities for the athletic department. Along with the Executive Director of Athletics, this leader will be an advocate for assigned athletic programs of the district for student athletes in 7th through 12th grades. The Assistant Director of Athletics will possess a commitment to student success with a focus on athletic performance, academic excellence, character, and sportsmanship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
Assist Executive Director of Athletics in the development and administration of an effective program of athletics for all students in all secondary schools grades 7-12.
Manage and maintain the Athletic Department’s student information system for all student athletes.
Oversee and manage all correspondence of OSSAA information including new student forms, transfers, and hardships in partnership with the Coordinator of Eligibility & Compliance.
Assist Executive Director of Athletics with the character education program that is expected to be a part of all our athletic teams.
Promote school athletic programs to maintain a high level of community interest and support.
Plan, coordinate, and manage the scheduled social media posts for the Athletic Department.
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Athletics on sponsorship programs and marketing opportunities. Develop and continue relationships with established sponsors.
Supervise scheduling and use of all athletic facilities.
Schedule and confirm contest workers, referees, security, and officials.
Identify needs at facilities and coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure all athletic facilities stay in top condition.
Provide administrative leadership at events throughout the year in different sports and different seasons.
Assist the Executive Director of Athletics with the stadium, gym, and other facilities set up for athletic events.
Serves on the Owasso Athletics Hall of Fame Committee.
Maintain an OIAAA and/or CCOSA membership each school year.
Coordinate with our Athletic apparel provider to offer bi-montly online spirit stores that are open to the public. This includes design, advertisement, and distribution when products are delivered to the Athletic Department.
All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of five (5) years athletic coaching or athletic leadership experience preferred
Valid Oklahoma teaching or administrative certificate preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrates strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively. Ability to manage social media program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language. Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data, define problems, and draw valid conclusions

LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Current driver’s license in good standing.
