Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the CADC include but are not limited to the following activities:
• Completion of the NJSAMS and EHR Intake documentation for all incoming clients.
• Completion of substance abuse assessments and treatment plans for all clients based on research, clinical
experience, and client histories.
• Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and
physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
• Counsel clients or patients, individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting
to life, or making changes.
• Provide clients or family members with information about addiction issues and available services or
programs, making appropriate referrals to detoxification or higher level of care when necessary.
• Intervene as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
• Referrals to the Social Services agencies in the community, such as (shelters and welfare).
• Documentation of all client forms/documents in compliance with DMHAS and OHC requirements and
standards.
• Provide quality case management and maintain regular phone contact with the individual, natural supports,
and social service agencies (when applicable) to provide updates on treatment and progress.
• Follow the progress of discharged patients to determine the effectiveness of treatments.
• Attendance and participation in supervision with clinical supervisor/director.
• Attendance and participation in case conferences and case consultations with interdisciplinary staff.
• Work with other agencies and promotes good community relations through involvement in community events
and other marketing events.
• Attendance and participation in scheduled in-service training, meetings, and other training required by
DMHAS and the agency.
• Completion and submission of client reports/queries.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field
• Completion of courses in addiction assessment and basic counseling preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of Excel, Word, and uploading documents in the NJSAMS system. Electronic Health
Record navigation and general office equipment.
• Must have good communication and writing skills.
• Knowledge of the New Jersey levels of care and treatment is preferable.
• CADC certification is strongly preferred
