- Provide specialized or individualized instruction in the classroom or in a pull-out situation to support students meet grade level benchmarks with English Language Arts program.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher, MTSS Coordinator, Reading Specialist, and other staff (special education, math, specials, support staff, etc.) to provide effective instruction for all students.
- Research and provide appropriate resources for staff and parents.
- Assist with assessment and diagnosis to inform instructional interventions, and to provide information to classroom teachers and parents.
- Assist classroom teachers in designing instruction for class, specific groups or individual students.
- Assist classroom teachers in using literacy assessments and interpreting and using results for instructional decision-making.
- Support individual teachers who may need assistance in developing and implementing the classroom integrated English Language Arts program.
- Model strategies or techniques, conduct demonstration or co-teaching lessons if schedule permits and under the direction of the principal and/or K-12 ELA Supervisor.
- Provide instructional guidance to paraprofessionals working the classrooms.
- Conduct staff development activities for teachers and parents.
- Implement building Title 1 or reading support programs where applicable.
- Provide monthly schedules to the district Compliance Coordinator (signed by the principal).
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Teaching Certification secured by September 2024.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
- Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and assist teachers in implementing lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
- Well organized with good time management skills.
- Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
- Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
- The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear;
- Sit, stand, walk, and occasionally be required to stoop, kneel and crouch;
- Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;
- Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and
- Possess effective judgment; communication, mathematical, planning and human relations skills; and is required to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
