What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Creative Director position at Owen Jones and Partners?
The Sr. Creative Director reports to and is supported by, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Owen Jones. The Sr. Creative Director is the primary creative partner for our clients business, and responsible for the creative output and impact of the team. This role represents the goals and values of the creative team and our clients. This is a people manager role.
Areas of Responsibility
Product Quality & Processes
Building creative excellence across the agency by defining and demanding the highest possible standards for our work.
Responsible for establishing and building client relationships, multiple accounts / partnerships and managing high-stakes clients
In partnership with Accounts Services team, scout, plan, scoping, pitch and report on net new business opportunities
Responsible for the creative team's composition, process, and functions, to ensure product quality, project margins, and client satisfaction.
Ongoing outreach and networking for new opportunities and outbound sales support as requested by sales / account teams.
Define the standards, process, and requirements that keep the creative team relevant and aware of current and emerging industry and creative trends, aesthetics, and increasing tools proficiency.
Department-level authority over staffing decisions, contractor hiring, and team structure, including staffing budgets as defined by the CFO.
Support the creative directors and project leads to assign and assemble the right creative teams for clients and projects.
Engage with specific clients and projects where and when you identify the opportunity or need for the highest-level creative leadership.
Help recruit and retain the best talent possible.
Reporting on progress meeting departmental goals to the CEO
Delegate as you see fit to achieve the goals and growth of the department.
Management
Inspire and motivate the Creative Team
Direct management, performance audit, measurement, and mentorship of creative directors and other director-level roles (Grade 7) within the creative department to ensure the defined standards are met.
Oversee the methodology for career growth and progressions of the creative team.
Continuous training and development in emotional intelligence, emotional regulation, people leadership, mentorship, equity and inclusion, and power and privilege awareness.
Be a strategic, positive, and influential leader within Owen Jones and align your teams goals and performance with the goals and vision of the agency.
Manage budgeting / reporting of the Creative Team
Manage utilization, resourcing and scoping of the Creative Team
Partners with HR on Creative Team hiring and terminations
Areas of Influence
Advise and collaborate with the CEO on defining where Owen wants to go as a creative organization and how the creative team contributes to pitching that work to new and existing clients.
Advise and collaborate with the CEO on defining strategic investments for the creative team, improving and diversifying the creative output.
Coordinate with the CEO, HR, and Operations to identify staffing and resource needs and work with them to scale the team alongside the business.
Collaborate with the Director of Production and producer team to set and prioritize resources to meet client schedules and deliverables to deliver the combination of quality and efficiency required to meet standards.
